Grant Street Studios has 2 Open Studio events each year, the first in Fall and the second in Spring during Art Detour Weekend. These events are co-ordinated between the graduate students, the galleries director and Artlink for Art Detour Weekend.
Inmportant: TAG (The Arts Grads) and the Galleries Director MUST have event plans confirmed for GSS with times and days as well as promotional images by Feb 1st in order to meet promotion deadlines for Art Detour/Artlink.
"Grant Street Studios in downtown Phoenix's warehouse district is home to many of the School of Art's graduate facilities and houses Northlight Gallery, Step Gallery and ASU graduate student studios. Graduate students enjoy individual spacious studios with natural light, wireless Internet connections and flexibility to accommodate special needs and equipment. Depending upon equipment and space needs, graduate students can utilize looms, dye facilities or print tables in the studios as well." - ASU
"- ASUGrant Street Studios epitomizes the idea of the Phoenix rising from the ashes. Renovating a former cotton factory in downtown Phoenix, ASU School of Art has created a community for its graduate studio artists, galleries for them to showcase work among Phoenix artists, and workspaces for them to experiment and flourish." - ASU
"Located in the Warehouse District in downtown Phoenix, Grant Street Studios has everything that the graduate student can hope for. It houses over 60 studios for all of the School of Art MFA candidates in one location. As well as individual studio spaces, students at Grant Street have separate sculpture, wood, ceramics and photography facilities on hand for whenever inspiration strikes. Seminar areas are used for the School of Art’s Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture Series presentations, where student artists learn from and connect with nationally known visiting artists." - ASU
"Encompassing more than 36,000 square feet of 24/7 creative activity, the space marks a new era of visibility and exchange for the nationally ranked ASU MFA in ART program." - InFocus
"The Art Grads (TAG), a student organization which represents the Graduate Art Students at ASU, invites the local community to view the work of ASU’s emerging professional artists and meet the makers as they demonstrate and discuss their processes. ASU artists working in Grant Street Studios will have their doors open and available to talk with visitors and interactive artists demonstrations will be scheduled along with other events. Grant Street Studios Art Detour events are free and open to the public thanks to the ASU Graduate and Professional Student Association (GPSA)."
"Atop concrete floors and divided into rooms without ceilings by bright white walls often tacked with notes and works in progress are the studios for select graduate arts students at Arizona State University. Despite the sliding metal doors conjuring a jail-cell-like look, we imagine Grant Street Studios is a great spot to hole up while prepping for a thesis exhibition and bouncing ideas off other student artists. What's more? The studios are open once a year during Phoenix's annual artwalk blowout called Art Detour, during which anyone can tour the spaces, peek in on artists at work, discuss what they're up to, and see someone who very well might be the next big thing." - New Times
"It’s not often you get the chance to go behind the scenes, watching artists create and talking with them about their work. You’ll have several opportunities during Art Detour weekend... Chief among them is the free Open Studios event... at Grant Street Studios. It’s a chance to meet ASU MFA art students and tour their studios, as well as see three exhibitions of works by ASU students, alumni, and faculty. - Lynn Trimble, New Times
